Making It Ours

About a month ago, I scored a great deal at the Salvation Army — $10 for a huge, solid coffee table. It was beat up, with bumps and scrapes and most noticeably a corner that had fallen off and then been poorly reattached. Still, I knew I had to have it as soon as I saw it because I had come to hate our laminate topped coffee table which was peeling on the edges and wanted something sturdier, ideally with a drawer for remotes, which this one does have! Flooring Revealed

There are no words for just how awesome my fiancĂ© is. I bugged him all day yesterday & at 9:40pm last night he finally caved & agreed to work on the kitchen floors. By 12:20, he was done. He really made this look easy, even though I know lining everything up & cutting through thick vinyl floor pieces was far from easy. Notching out the door jams & lifting up the ridiculously heavy refrigerator among other things looked particularly miserable. Still, in under three hours he managed to get the whole room’s worth of flooring laid (we used 3.75 boxes in this room). Continue reading

Project Kitchen: Floors!

Hello! I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving & Black Friday (& Thursday)! I’m not going to lie, Jason & I went shopping on both Thursday (Target & Best Buy) and Friday (Target: round two, Petsmart, Kohl’s, Famous Footwear, DSW, Marshall’s, & most importantly of all Home Depot). We got some great deals & are now the proud owners of a new digital camera, Kitchenaid standmixer, clothes, games, presents for others, & of course, the best deal we stumbled into for Black Friday:

The floating tile we used in our bathroom (which has held up amazingly over the last year) that we plan on continuing into our kitchen.
